On 2/21/02 Sen. Betty Sims' (R) track bill, SB 1010, was passed out of Financial and Governmental Organization Committee, Sen. Anita Yeckels (R) Chairman.

HB1679 which passed the MO House is stalled in Sen. Yeckel’s Committee.

SB 1010 is the Trojan Horse filled with slots and casinos.

SB1010 is on the informal calendar and could be called to the
floor for a vote at any time where an amendment to include
HB1679 could be included.

Why SB 1010 needs to be defeated

All across the nation, ailing horse racing tracks are:

• struggling financially
• failing to operate as healthy businesses
• going bankrupt
• subsidized with taxpayer funds
• promoted as family destinations - a great place for the kids
• addicting our fathers and mothers and destroying families
• fraught with crime - money laundering, the mob, drug dealing
• poorly regulated with severe abuses of track employees
• using huge political contributions and threats to obtain favors
• surviving by adding hundreds, even thousands of slot machines
• purchased by casino and slot companies as an entry to casino gambling
• purchased by Indians who are permitted full casino gambling
